Overview:
Known only to ancient inhabitants, early pioneers, and miners; the remote Silver Island Mountains remain shrouded in mystery even today. Your adventure will take you through a spartan landscape of an ancient sea to Floating Island, Crater Island and some spectacular views on roads less traveled. You will come back with tales to tell.

What to Expect
The Silver Island Mountain’s Adventure takes you deep into these majestic and mysterious mountains raising out of the Bonneville Salt Flats. We'll find caves that provided shelter to Indians, old mining sites with rusty gear and abandoned structures. Here’s your chance to see some of the most unexpected landscapes in Utah!
How to Prepare
All Western Overland Adventure tours require participants to be self sufficient in terms of food, water, fuel, camping equipment, and vehicle preparations. You can find detailed information on how to prepare with our Vehicle Gear Requirement and Camping Requirement lists. This tour is rated a 2 on our trail difficulty scale. In order to register, your vehicle must meet the minimum requirements for this difficulty rating.
On the Silver Island Mountain’s Adventure you will have approximately 200 miles between locations with food and fuel availability (depending on reroutes) over mostly maintained, dirt and gravel roads with occasional rough, unmaintained two track. Additionally, much of the area that we will be in has little or no cell phone coverage. Weather is a factor that no one can control, so plan for the unexpected. Mid-September in this part of Utah is usually warm to hot during the day, but temperatures can drop significantly at night. Fall rain storms are not uncommon at this time and this can alter the trail and camp conditions; please plan accordingly.
